Wequassett Resort & Golf Club trusts again in Resuinsa textiles

The United States sees the light at the end of the tunnel, for weeks infections have decreased notably and the indicators are favourable for the pandemic’s evolution. With more than 230 million vaccines administered at the end of April, the reactivation of tourism is closer and closer. There is a cumulative demand for travel; people need to enjoy, live, and travel again. In the last year many life experiences such as weddings, vacations, anniversaries have been postponed… and there is no virtual replacement for them.

Cape Cod is one of the most beautiful places on the East Coast of the United States, where the luxurious Wequassett Resort and Golf Club is located, as the only five-star resort in the Forbes guide in the area. Its 120 rooms are divided into spacious suites and private cabins, ensuring that the guest lives an unforgettable experience. In a relaxed atmosphere facing the sea and offering a warm personalized service. With Resuinsa textiles guaranteeing the highest quality, luxury and comfort.

We interview to Alton Chun, their General Manager to tell us how they have lived 2020 and their forecasts for this year:

  • How have you dealt with the pandemic in the last year?

As a seasonal operation, we were fortunate to be closed during the height of the pandemic and that time was spent preparing for a safe opening.  We were able to open in early June and demand was much higher than we expected.  We quickly had to adapt to the volume of business, and many team members served in various capacities to best serve our guests. Our setting comprised of 27 waterfront acres with 22 Cape Cod-style structures was our biggest asset.  Our guests appreciated the privacy and ease to socially distance.  We have an abundance of outdoor dining space and two private beaches that were very appealing features during the pandemic.

  • Are you noticing the reactivation of tourism?

Yes, our booking pace is approaching 2019 levels and we anticipate a very busy season.

  • Will the guest’s profile change with this new situation?

In 2020, our guests were within a drive market, mainly coming from New England, and the tri-state area. We expect this geographic origin to expand in 2021 as more people are vaccinated and become more comfortable with flying. We saw many new guests in 2020 and we are hoping for their return in 2021; many of these guests had to cancel international trips.

  • What makes your hotel unique?

Wequassett is distinguished as the only hotel on Cape Cod and the Islands to have earned Forbes Five-Star status for both the resort and its signature restaurant, twenty-eight Atlantic.  The property is also a member of Preferred Hotels and Resorts’ Legend Collection.  While the resort’s setting is beautiful and quintessentially Cape Cod, the warm, personal service provided is what truly sets the hotel apart.
